Abstract: Examined the requirements for sustainable growth of the university librarian. Mention of the following three points perspective. (1) What kind of knowledge and skills are needed, (2) how to acquire them, (3) The basic attitude in order to allow for growth. For the knowledge and skills, LIPER's university library group findings "Body of Professional Knowledge" by CILIP, and Japan Association of National University Libraries, Human Resources Committee "competency model" was examined. How specifically for the acquisition are: (i) by incorporating positive external information, (ii) Qualifying work-related, (iii) to study in graduate school, (iv) Daily that in familiar place spoke about how the effort. For the Basic attitudes, pointed out the importance of having a vision to work and maintaining weak ties with people.

Abstract: How can one flourish as an information retrieval expert (information Professional)? Can one become a professional someday by polishing their retrieval techniques in front of the computer? This author thinks differently. Someone who can communicate appropriately with clients, understand their needs and be able to reflect that in their search results. Someone who gains favor with a client and is asked for advice on various things. The author believes that this kind of person is an "information Professional". In this paper aimed at "First Year information Professional" that will become information retrieval experts in the future, the author proposes seven common practices as a path for becoming a popular professional.

Abstract: Business information specialists are required to have a wide rang of skills including interviewing skill, knowledge of information sources, presentation skill, and information editing skill. Among them, the "knowledge of information sources" is the basis of other skills. Because of the improvement of databases and internet, it is assumed that acquiring information on industries and products that one has never researched is relatively easy, however there is still advanced-level information provision that can be achieved only with the knowledge.
Accumulation of knowledge is the challenge that information specialists should take on from the early stage. This article will focus on the "Knowledge of Information Sources" thorough the examples of our company's new employee training.
