Abstract : The ideal and the realities at the library are not necessarily accurately transmitted to the user. Why are neither existence, service nor a social meaning of the library understood?
The meaning, the necessity, and the methodology of public relations and PR activity in the library are arranged to consider the ideal way of the library publicity in the future, and enhancement, notes, personal computer use, and web contents JIS of the change in the consideration of the user in the information society, the importance of the Public hearing activity, and the content of announcing to public are taken up as a modern problem. Additionally, it was clarified that the case from a zoo advancement by the reform to the Asahi Mt. zoo was analyzed, and the effort to have become a library staff united body turned to the achievement of the ideal library based on a steady idea was important.

Library public relations and marketing in new paradigm

Abstract : What I wish show in this paper is the importance of strategic Public Relations by hybrid media as now post modernism age. Two points must constantly be kept in mind, they are the points of view from visitor (reader)-initiative Social Marketing and enough communication services with visitors and local citizen, on the premise that the concept of library has to changed to Open Place for intellectual experiences.

Experiment of constructing PR strategy in library

Abstract : The business maneuver to reform the library as the organization is demand to create an effective, efficient library services. However, the mechanism making concerning the PR strategy construction to inform the user of offered library services is at the same time necessary.
The importance of public relations was considered to this text based on the result of the those who came to a library investigation concerning the acknowledgment situation and the satisfaction situation of library services, and the mechanism making concerning the PR strategy construction was examined from a marketing aspect.

Hospital library publication activities -After conducting a survey-

Abstract :The methods of publication in our libraries have been changing from hard copy media to electronic media such as our intranet, web page, and email. However, according to a survey conducted in our hospital, we found that a “library booklet" was more accessible than electronic media because it was easy to pick up and read. Nevertheless, the need for using electronic media is increasing year by year. We must, for example, search the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and link to electronic journals. Moreover, according to surveys concerning publication in other hospitals, it has become clear that, more advantage of web pages and intranets is being taken. As one method of publication we have examined recently was orientation meetings for library users.

Library exhibitions as public relations

Abstract : Library exhibitions could increase the use of library materials. We should appreciate library exhibitions as public relations of library. And I show the effective practice of library exhibitions in the exhibition of Tohoku University Library.

A Public Relations image strategy of academic libraries in information literacy education ; How can librarians' professional competences appeal to the public?,

Abstract : More opportunities have been realized for librarians to participate in information literacy education in academic communities. Because librarianship has fallen in crisis of nullification, librarians must have a point of view of Public Relations and marketing in order to recover and enhance the social recognition of the value of their profession. This paper reviews the stereotyped public image of librarians in recent television dramas, points out the conceptual frameworks of image strategy for appealing reborn librarianship to the public, and presents a menu of practical methods which are doable even in their daily works.
