Abstract : This article presents philosophy and policies of IT and IT-supported education, enumerates problems to realize it and introduces some activities and attempts that may contribute to solving the problems. The educational philosophy is the well-balanced development of IT literacy, scientific understanding on informatics and morals to live in information society. On the other hands, the problems are related to hardware environment, software environment, educational software and contents, regulations and consensus, education of teachers, support system, and policies themselves.

Abstract : Curriculum “information" in the Yokohama city Totsuka high school does do not aim only at the fixing of knowledge, and it has done the contrivance for issueing idea and answer from one's own in self it. It is the rearing of the possible pupil the result which we aim that it is utilized well, that the life is done rich, and that it is do not raise it of the pupil who can use the computer efficiently well.

Abstract : The important factors of “integrated learning," which starts in elementary schools and junior high schools in Japan in 2003, will be “group learning through the Internet" and “creativity and originality in learning activities." As preliminary research we studied children from different schools and different areas creating software together.

Special feature : To Start Information Literacy Education for K12. What is possible in a school library with a librarian teacher and the information technology education?―A case report,

Abstract : SISF has twin schools. One is a teaching-in-English, international school, which requires library a lot. Many teachers have emphasis on the study skills―library skills. Also there are a lot of books and secondary sources on many subject which suit for elementary and middle school students' research. At the other school, which is Japanese middle and high school, the librarian teacher offers a library skill class to the first year students. It works well, since after the class, the students use the library more efficiently at other teachers' class research. The information technology teachers mainly teach the computer skills now. Subject teacher, IT teacher, and librarian teacher altogether can develop more efficient program for the students to learn good IT skills through each subject study.

Abstract : The substantiality of the function as “the reading center" “learning and information center" is indispensable in order to effectively utilize the school library of elementary school and junior high school. At present, the activation of the school library is a request in the age, and especially, the cooperation between public library and school library is being tried by the expansion of Ministry of Education “school library computerization and activation promotion model region business" nationally. In the education center in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, in making “network business which connects the public library with the school library" to be in 1988, startup, “the distribution network" and “information network" are made to be both wheels, school library connection in the city whole school including the public library has been advanced. Its system and operation are described.
